Pantoum: On the Bay

maynerpentheMorning:  Sun and shadows, blue flowers, fresh wind.

I gaze at a sky with thread-like clouds.

Across the bay is shadow,

But I see the brightness of day.

I gaze at a sky with thread-like clouds.

I feel the flowers unfolding.

I see the brightness of day,

And color peeping through shadowy leaves.

I feel the flowers unfolding.

Grayness and darkness recede.

Color peeps through shadowy leaves,

Shadows shorten, light brightens.

Grayness and darkness recede.

Bright light.

Shadows shorten, light brightens

Then diminishes.

Bright light.

In the afternoon, shadows lengthen,

Light diminishes

And deepening darkness falls.

In the afternoon, shadows lengthen,

Across the bay it is shadow,

And deepening darkness falls.

Morning:  Sun and shadows, blue flowers, fresh wind.
